Cedar City Lawn Mowing Recommendations

Cedar City Utah Lawn Mowing Duration
One can expect to mow their lawns for 6-7 months of the year.  In April lawns start growing again and by the end of October you're typically fine wrapping up mowing for the year.

Cedar City Utah mowing Height

For the grass types we have in Cedar City, we recommend mowing at least 3 inches high.  The higher the grass is cut the better.  When lawns are mowed too short the soil dries out, and the lawn will need more water.  Also, when mowed too short the sun can get to the ground better giving weeds a much better chance of growing.

Cedar City Watering Frequency

We recommend turning your sprinklers on Mid to late April.  When the weather is less than 70 degrees you should be able to get away with watering your lawn 2 times per week.  When the temperatures are 80+ we recommend watering 3-4 times per week.  If the lawn starts to look dry we recommend increasing how much water you're putting down at each watering instead of increasing how often you water.

Cedar City Lawn Mowing Frequency

We recommend mowing your lawn weekly April-October.  Ideally one doesn't want to cut more than 1/3 the length of the grass blade off at one visit.  We find that mowing weekly is ideal to meet these requirements.
